The Australian Medical Student Journal, the first national peer-reviewed student biomedical journal, was officially launched at a function late last week by Federal AMA President Dr. Andrew Pesce.

The inaugural issue is now freely available online, and as well as a wide-range of interesting research and topical reviews from the medical student cohort of Australia, the inaugural issue has guest contributions from the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Health Minister Nicola Roxon, Australian of the Year Professor Pat McGorry, and well-known medical author Professor Nicholas Talley.

 Access it here:
http://www.amsj.org/access-amsj_v1_i1

Several thousand hard copies of the journal are hurtling through space toward your Medical Societies as you read. Check your student common rooms soon or speak to someone from your MedSoc to get your hands on one!

Submissions will reopen soon – stay tuned.

Aleksi Suo of the 2009 cohort has been published in this issue, so make sure to take a look and congratulate him! Hard copies will be available in the student common room - take a look!

2011 AMSA National Convention & Global Health Conference Committees
AMSA logo2011 presents an amazing opportunity for medical students around NSW - the Australian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) National Convention and Global Health Conference (GHC) will be held in Sydney!

There will be plenty of opportunities for students to join the executive committee or various subcommittees. 2 weeks ago, a brief presentation was held at AMA House outlining the various issues and considerations as well as the selection process - it is recommended that students interested in running for positions review the content of that slideshow. This presentation as well as position decriptions will be made available via the AMSA website (www.amsa.org.au).
