Kat

Katharine 'Kat' Kott - President

Kat is the second Canadian at the helm of the WUMSS ship, and despite the fact that the last time she was at sea she ... enriched the waters with her stomach contents, she'll try to avoid most of the rocks, metaphorical and otherwise. Although Kat is a lowly Canuck she no longer looks blankly at people when they talk about being "crook", say things like "fair dinkum", or talk about their thongs being worn out and full of holes.

As president this year Kat hopes to A) not screw anything major up and B) represent the student body and get people involved in what's going on with the school, the administration and the greater Australian medical community.

Also, dendritic cells really do exist. (I'm looking at you, Ashton!)

BassimBassim Jebeili - Vice President

As the first Lebanese-Australian to be elected Vice-President of WUMSS, the student body can look forward to an exciting year with this man at the helm... well, at least grasping the skirt of the lady at the helm. And continuing on the ship theme, Bassim will aim to do a better job than Titanic's Kate Winslet and actually stay true to his word by never letting go...

Bassim was a founding member of Australians Against Flatuphobia (www.flatuphobia.com/facts), and aims to have flatuphobia eliminated from the Australian population by the year 2043. Seeing as 2043 is a while away, Bassim will aim (for the time being) to provide a voice for the UoW GSM students on a number of committees, both within the maniacal hierarchy who run our school and on a broader national level.

Who else would you give the keys to the WUMSS bank account to?

The man you can trust (apparently)... Lucas has the essential accounting skills of an admirable, well groomed and good looking gentleman. He is known to have a bumper sticker stating "I'd rather be at the beach, or on the footy field, or as far away from the learning centre as humanly possible", yet still manages to fit more into a daylight savings day than most farmers do. Aside from balancing the books he is busy with all facets of med school events and is happy to lend a helping hand whenever or wherever is needed.

Lucas Bailey - your treasurer for 2010 - the year of the tiger! -Whooha.

NathanNathan VanVeen - Immediate Past President

Having lost a little hair over the last year as President, Nathan now finds himself in the grandfather role of IPP. Intended to help generally guide the new executive and provide direct support to the president as needed, Nathan finds himself with one big toe still firmly cemented into WUMSS. Excited to attend events as a student and no longer having to answer a bazillion emails is the highlight of IPP - behind the scenes but still 'around' over the next year.

MaxMax Mollenkopf - 2009 Cohort Rep

Max Mollenkopf will be the 2009 Shoalhaven rep. Max is not Lebanese Australian, and thus will not be setting any racial or cultural benchmarks by taking on this position. Max shares a name with a famous crime-fighting Mountain Gorilla, was born on March 6, 1971 in Germany's famous Frankfurt Zoo and died May 5, 2004 at the Johannesburg Zoo. He became a South African national hero in 1997 when he attacked a criminal who had tried to escape the police by jumping into the gorilla cage. Max was shot twice while also inflicting considerable damage to his opponent, whom he apparently saw as a threat. Both the man and the gorilla were immediately brought to a hospital. The man was later convicted for rape, robbery and wounding a gorilla. He got a 40 year sentence.

The Shoalhaven rep version of Max aims to represent Shoalhaven interests at a number of levels, and to keep the bastards honest. And to not get shot by criminals.
